Two months

This little cutie is two months old already. I CANNOT believe how fast it is going, I seriously want things to slow down. I am enjoying her babyness sooo much.

At her two month appt she weighed in at
  • 12lbs 5 oz (how much miley weighed at 4 months)
  • 23 inches

She is in the 70th-ish percentiles for both and I just can't get over how big she is! So different compared to my skinny mini Miley-kins. All I can figure was my poor first born was starving til like age 6 months :( poor baby!

She has started smiling when you look at her and talk to her- however she can go from smiling at you to the biggest frowny almost crying face in a split second, its super sad but also pretty funny. She is also starting to laugh and usually does when I sing some sort of funny song and make her arms do motions to go along with it such as patty cake.

She loves the bath.

She isn't having crazy-bad, constant diaper rashes like Miley did, which is nice. However, its SUPER easy to tell when she is in pain because her cry is so different. It's strange to me because I can literally hear the cry and its like someone is talking to me saying I'm hurting and lo and behold she will have just gone to the bathroom with a diaper rash or be laying on something pokey (a binky clip... my bad) etc. We also tried the baby language cries and it actually worked especially right when she was a newborn- the easiest to recognize for us were the upper gas (I need to burp) cry and the "i'm tired" cry. pretty cool!

She is still sleeping in our room and will for awhile still I think but I am getting better at putting her back in her packn'play to go back to sleep rather then our bed. I think my next step in a week or so will be to have her start napping in her real crib and then once she is down to one feeding at night its off to her own room for good... (well at least until 7 or 8 am). She doesn't poop at night... funny how that little schedule has worked out.

She does to bed around 8pm then sleeps anywhere to between 12 and 2 then wakes up to eat and is back to sleep until 5 or 6 then up again at 8 and then varies with eating and naps from day to day.

She is lifting her hands to bat at toys- doesn't always make contact but I can tell she is aware of them. She will watch the little mobiles in her various cribs and bouncy chairs for quite awhile and can be distracted if you hold a toy up for her.

Once or twice she has been calmed down just by hearing someone talk to her which is neat- she is realizing sounds go with people!

I have no idea what her schedule is... how often she eats... how often or how long she sleeps... I get so distracted with miley that I just sort of forget to keep track hahaha but usually if she cries I check her diaper and change it and then feed her.

Something else unique is that she will cry because she is really tired which miley never did. She will cry and cry and then you just swaddle her and pop a binky in her mouth and lay her down and she is out! She is great at putting herself to sleep, sometimes she wakes up and wants the pacifier but overall she does good and I can tell when she is in a deep sleep because she spits the paci out and does NOT want it back.

When she sleeps her skin turns the most beautiful evenly pale color, it is PERFECT. She is seriously so beautiful.

After I change her diaper she is So happy and loves to lay on her changing table and happily look around and kick her legs. Its usually where I get some of the biggest smiles out of her. She is also really happy right after she uh... creates a seriously MESSY diaper.

This girl has gas. It is OUT of control... the sounds she makes could pass for a grown man. I feel bad though because I can tell it hurts and after she gets everything all worked out she is a much happier little lady. We tried gas medicine but haven't really noticed a difference.

Hates tummy time... I sort of hate it too because I take a really happy baby and lay her down and inevitably turn her into a grumpy spitty sad for the next 30 mins baby. I mostly try to lay her on me to make it more bearable. She already has a super strong neck and chilled in the bumbo the other day quite well.

She is starting to drool a ton and make spit bubbles which we have like NO experience with- I think miley drooled like 10 times in her whole life. I am not kidding. It's like every time I look away and then look back at her I need to wipe her mouth off!

She rolled over yesterday from tummy to back twice during tummy time- Go Lo!

She chokes every time I try to give her a mam pacifer, weird? Guess we have another nuk baby.

Is very content to lay in the boppy on the couch, on her playmat, chill in her swing or bouncy seat. She loves to sit on my lap and face out and look at stuff. I think she likes when I read her books? Sometimes I think she isn't getting held nearly as much as miley did which makes me sad so I try whenever I can to really sit down and hold/cuddle/interact with her.

Doesn't cuddle waaah. If you try to cuddle her she just arches her back and tries to stick her head up. She is my little board- always flexed and straight (probably related to all that horrible gas). Someday. someday I will get a cuddly baby.

Not great at nursing. Sometimes she unlatches sooo many times and I have finally started to realize that some of the time this means she either needs to burp or wants to have the pacifier and go to sleep. I feel like she can't be getting that much when I nurse because its usually only for like 10 mins... but I guess 2 lbs a month of weight gain is proving me wrong!

She loooves JT. I think she might be a daddy's girl. Anytime he is close by she watches him so intently and I think recognizes his voice and looks for him when she hears it. She loves to stare at his glasses and often when she is super fussy and I can't calm her down he just wraps her up and holds her this special way and she just quiets right down. I can (and have tried many times) holding her the exact same way and she just screams. Guess its not the same when mom does it.

I think this is my absolute favorite picture of her, it really LOOKS like her if that makes sense. Like what she looks like when I close my eyes and picture her

first time in matching sister dresses

first ward service project

Miley's favorite way to hold her... she doesn't hold her too often though mostly she just likes to talk to her

so cute for church

happy on her changing table

I love to kiss her hands and head when she is sleeping- so sweet

first sister bath

outfit from when I was a baby

most of the time I think she looks perfectly proportioned

looking chunky here

These next shots are my attempt of "mom gets in the photo" an article that talked about how our children will want to look back and have pictures not just of themselves but of them with their mother- regardless of the baby weight she may still have... the greasy hair... and the lack of make up

do we look alike?

Hey! I just found your blog. Congrats on Lola! She is beautiful, and you look awesome!

We've been potty training too (remember a year ago how I just had constant anxiety about this?). We started at the beginning of the month. At first I was all about getting it done in one day, blah, blah, blah, but when that didn't happen (of course), I just started to relax my expectations. I still have to remind him to go (which usually means I have to make him go), but it's been over a week since we had a full-blown puddle accident. I keep him in a pull-up at naptime, bedtime, and when we go out, but he usually keeps it dry when we're out, even if I don't think he's ready to be dry all night.

Anyway, I know relaxing about it is what you don't want to hear, but maybe if you chilled out she'd just quit using it as a power struggle? And did she regress around when Lola was born, because that would be pretty normal. You could always get her really ugly off-brand pull-ups and tell her she has to wear them (and not her princess panties) until she doesn't have any more accidents. I could totally see that working with Miley!

I'm so glad her hair is still so curly! I was worried that it was just baby hair that would grow out, but it looks like it's for keeps! Hope you guys are doing super well in FL!
