Question-

How do you make yourself like to cook?

and building off of that question- how do you get yourself to actually do it EVERY day?

(And its not that I don't know how- or lack of recipes- more like just completely lacking motivation)

Next- what do you feed your kid? Like your go to snacks/dinners/etc ( and I know just give her what we eat but um... I am completely fine eating PBJ and doritos EVERY day and nutritionally for her I know that is just not cutting it, so I try to feed her better then I feed myself)

Katie already came and went... it was WAY too fast. I had such a fun time and I hope she did too. Despite the fact that I tricked her into spending $15 on cookies. Yum.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE having guests here in florida. Please come visit us everyone!

I don't know the answer at this point. However, I have started collecting fabric and appliances and dinnerware that I like to make my kitchen a place that I want to be. I'm trying to convince myself that if my kitchen is beautiful and decorated in "my style" (whatever that is) that I will enjoy being in it and thus want to stay and cook in it because I like it so much. I haven't started with decorating because we are moving, but we'll see if it works.

I feel like I like to cook way more when I keep my kitchen nice and clean. I clean my fridge out all the time so I know exactly what is in it and I feel more motivated to use stuff before it goes bad. I have a friend who just cooks her families meals in the morning whenever she has time and then throws them in the fridge so they just need to be reheated. It seems to work pretty well for her. Just a thought. Also, I feel the same way about feeding JR, I want him to eat much better than I do. He really loves to eat noodles so we do a lot of red sauce. He likes fruit pretty well so he eats lots of grapes, strawberries, bananas, apples and cantaloupe. Sometimes we do chicken nuggets, quesadillas, string cheese... Just trying to give you some of my ideas because kids can be hard to feed. Hope it helps.

I take a can of black beans, rinse them in a strainer and then put them on a high chair tray. So easy. I don't like them... but both of my kids do. I also get the Veggie Straw chips. They are a good replacement to doritos.

Good questions Kali. I have the same ones.

For the cooking motivation... hmm... I cook a real meal about once every week or two... so I'm not a great person to ask, but when I'm done with school I have high hopes for what my life will be like (HA!). I think that if I planned out what I was going to cook every day at the beginning of the week I would be more motivated because I find that the worst part of cooking dinner is deciding what to make. Hopefully this will help me.

As far as feeding kids - PB&J is actually not super unhealthy for them (if it's on wheat). I usually just try to make sure I'm covering each food group, even if it's just a little. For a quick dinner for Cade I will give him noodles with parmesan cheese and he loves it. Sometimes I can get him to get protein by making turkey or ham "roll-ups" which is just deli meat rolled up and he seems to like it. I got lucky though because we usually have to bribe Cade with fruits and veggies to get him to eat his carbs and protein, so I can't really complain :)

The thing that helps me like cooking is finding what I'm good at and nurturing that part. i.e. I'm better at baking than cooking so I've been working on cake design. Not the healthiest hobby, i know.
I'll try to give you a few kids snack ideas but you might have to cater it more to Miley's age. Fruit cut up of course, yogurt WITH fat (doesn't really matter which one, I just give the kids yoplait: the fattiest I can find that's not super expensive), whole wheat crackers. We do lots of cheese: string cheese, cut up cheese with crackers, humus (my kids actually love this), whole wheat bagels (try Lenders), lots of applesauce with no sugar added, cheerios, fruit leather (100% fruit: Stretch Island Co. at walmart by fruit snacks), dried fruit like apricot, cranberries, raisins, etc. Good luck!
