Kingsley Plantation

One of our first adventures we went on once we got down here was to go out to Kinglsey Plantation. It is just a little north of us and is a really cool area. One of the most memorable ( and not in a happy way) things I learned was that if you were a slave assigned to the indigo dye making process it was basically a death sentence from all of the harmful by products that are a part of the process! Horrible!

There are tons of trees and moss down here as well as palm trees
The dock area... this little plantation used to be a pretty big port area and would receive a lot of slaves through it as well as other cargo

The road there was like a jungle with the trees creating a canopy overhead

 The Plantation house
These are the actual old slave quarters made out of this seashell cement stuff called "tabby"

I hope we'll be able to visit a plantation before we leave this area. Looks like you had fun.... and in the blog post below this one too.
