Start Spreaaaaading the news

I want to be a part of it NEEEEW YOOORK, NEWWW YORRRRK! Today was a pretty big day for me because I was able to check something off of my bucket list. So I figured I better document it before the details become too Hazy. We just moved to Hillsborough, NJ which is about an hour or so away from NYC. We flew in yesterday morning to Newark and I was in the Lucky seat that got the best view... as we approached I was seeing what I thought was NYC but was a little unsure so I finally had to blurt out- "I know this is a very dumb question but is that new york city I am seeing?" the guy in front of me heard me whispering to JT and started to laugh and said yeah that is NYC. It was unbelievable. SO MANY BUILDINGS. I could see everthing- it was the perfect intro to the city, I spotted the empire state building, Central park, freedom Tower, Statue of Liberty and lots of bridges. As soon as we landed Miley turned to me and so seriously said "Mom I couldn't have done this without you" we started laughing and asked her what she was talking about and she said "oh moving to NJ" hahaha so funny the stuff she says. The next morning (saturday) we woke up and hurried to get out the door and actually left around 9:45. We drove to new brunswick where JT's company has a campus with employee parking right near a train station with a train directly into the city. There is actually a train station lots closer to our new house but we would have to transfer trains which is time consuming and a hassle (we assume) so we figured it would work better to get on this one. We had lots of fun waiting at the train station and were nervous about making it on to the right one but we got it all figured out. I loved taking the train, it was so much more relaxing than driving and it was fun to pass through all of the little cities that I had seen on the map as I looked for places to live. We finally started getting close and you see all these like marsh lands/river/docks etc and the city seems so far but then you go under the tunnel and when you come out of the train you are right in the middle of the city- its like the buildings just pop up. SOOO COOL. We had debated about getting a light umbrella stroller but thought we would try the day with just our moby wrap for Lola and Ergo as a back pack for Miley. This really wasn't so bad... except for how hot it was. It was unbearable especially in the Moby. I think we would still use the two kid carriers for museums and what not but having a stroller is nice- I think my side by side double might be a BEAST to push around there sadly. We had decided that our first order of business would be times square and as we toured it- all of the signs and what not were So huge and impressive- we saw a babies R us. We went in to check it out and use the bathroom and umm came out with a stroller  hahaha. The guys were so nice and built it for us in the store so we could use it right away and what's funny is that we were like the 4th people to do that while we were just in the store. We later found out we could have rented a stroller from them for the day for $10.... oh well now we know because we definitely would have done that. After getting the stroller we were much cooler. It worked out great because our next stop was at Jamba Juice and Lola was able to drink a bottle then go right to sleep in the stroller. We then wandered over to Rockefeller Center which I LOVED. I am a sucker for anything NBC so we went in and looked at everything there was to see. I noticed two bakeries I had heard RAVE reviews about so I told JT we had to stop at both of them! First we picked up some macaroons at The Bouchon Bakery, we got chocolate, berries and cream, and funfetti. We then went to a street vendor and got Hot Dogs. The hot dogs were delicious and then we tried the macaroons... THEY WERE PHENOMENAL. if you ever get the chance to go there you should. They also have it in las Vegas and someplace else I can't recall right now. The funfetti was our favorite and tasted just like birthday cake- except better. It was just SO delicious. After we finished up our macaroons we went over to Magnolia Bakery and got a hummingbird cupcake that we brought home with us and have yet to eat. After we picked up our cupcake we headed back to Penn station. As we got closer we realized we were just barely going to miss our train so we decided to run. It seriously felt like we were in a movie. At one point we got to some stairs down into the station and I had to grab sleeping miley out of the stroller and started running while JT ran with the whole open stroller and Lola in the front pack. I am sure we were quite a site. JT was a genius though and in like one minute was able to figure out which track we were on so we continued on our run and I caught this huge door RIGHT as it was closing and was able to keep it open for us. We were the last people on to the train and I still can't believe we made it... though our cupcake suffered a bit.We made it onto the right train so that was a relief. We had a BLAST.

My thoughts on the Big Apple- it felt so BIG. It was such a fabulous mix of so many different kinds of people. I feel like anyone could fit in there and find something they like. I also felt a little claustrophobic, there were just so many buildings and so few trees.I considered living in such a huge city during a natural disaster or terrorist attack and it terrified me. So many people packed into an area with no where to go. That being said I definitely would live there- (how we could ever afford living there is beyond me). So glad I was able to go and make some dreams come true! I can't believe this is only the beginning and there is still SO MUCH MORE for us to see :) YAY!
