Miley is currently 4 months old, at her check up the pediatrician was a little concerned about her weight. She weighed in at a whopping 11 lbs which dropped her into the 5th percentile. not so good. The pediatrician suggested I begin supplementing each feeding with formula after I finish nursing. However after doing some research that just didn't feel like the right thing for us. The charts they use to mark percentiles aren't for exclusively breastfed babies which have a tendency to slow down growth at 2-3 months, so I decided I would try to just nurse her more often to see if that helps for a month and if not then I might add a little formula. She is happy and starting to sleep a lot better and her development is great, which a lot of info I have read says are better indicators for if a baby is underfed.
-She finally figured out rolling from back to front this week ( 6/14) and has been rolling front to back since she was like 2.5 or 3 months or something. Another plus was that JT was able to witness this "first".
-She can sit up if her hands are out in front of her for a little bit of time
-she smiles all the time if you talk to her
-she is finally ticklish and I can get her to laugh really great.
- we just started some sleep training and as JT likes the term "we are ferberizing our baby" so we are letting her cry and checking on her a bunch and its getting better and better. Last night she slept from 11- 6 without really waking up (she was starting to but I just gave her back her paci really fast- that might count as cheating) and its was so great!
- She is just the funnest CUTEST girl around and is starting to play a lot which we (especially Jt) love. Jt says he loves newborns but it isn't the funnest stage.
- She is so cute and smiley when she wakes up from naps and i love that

Great post! I totallllllly agree with you about those stupid growth charts. Brinley was only 12 pounds at her 4 month appt. I didn't really care. Honestly. If she is starving, you would know it. Formula babies are packing those bottles and really gaining weight much faster than breastfed babies. (and honestly...I'm fine with my baby being on the smaller size. my friend's 9 month old is 30 pounds...aka a 3 year old).
She is adorable! Are you going to start oatmeal cereal? I suggest oatmeal instead of rice because rice has no fiber in it. Once she starts solids, she'll need a bit of help in that department :-) her poops will change a bit.
Just some mommy advice I wish I had when Brinley was that age!
yay congrats little meng!!!
