Alright people... We are going to be trying to get a camera on black friday this year. I really need some direction in which camera to get.
These are the specifications it MUST meet:
1.) Take beautiful pictures of my soon to be little bundle of JOY!
2.) Not be too complicated- I am fine learning but I don't think I will value a real expensive hardcore DSLR
3.) Take great pictures that don't need to be photoshopped ( because I don't have that program)
please please help?

I am looking for the exact same sort of thing. We have a friend who LOVES researching cameras, so we asked him and he recommended a Canon xti to us. So... Maybe look into that one?
Kali, the XTI is like mine, so it's a super camera, but takes learning. Its a DSLR. I LOVE mine, but if you don't want to spend that kind of $$$ and have to learn it, we really love our little Fuji Finepix. It takes great pics, little videos, and was under $200. Two minutes to figure out how to use the thing!
Whatever you do BUY CANON. Just trust me. If you want to know why, call me, but I don't really feel like typing it all out. If you decided to go with an SLR I would recommend the Rebel series, but right now, my favorite point and shoot is the Canon SD780. I love it for all the reasons I love all canons... the ISO, self timer and color variation options... and many many more... But specific to this camera is the 2.5 in LCD screen, Image Stabilization which I would not live without (esp. important for photographing baby meng) and I just love how the camera body looks :) It comes in silver, black and red. ITs selling for $200 at Costco now, so I'm sure you'll get it cheaper on black friday :)

Yeah if you;re going into the DSLR price range, the Canon Rebel is perfect - you can run everything on automatic and take great shots. On the lower $ range, I'd second the Fuji Finepix! It's a great little thing
Dearest Kali,
I have a digital camera and I LOVE it! It is a Cannon SD750? I think... umm... I'm no help. But, they have them at Costco and at Best Buy for pretty cheap and it's dumb-proof. I swear I don't know how to do anything photography but my camera always takes great pictures.
i got a little nikon coolpix digital camera when i graduated from high school, (i have no idea which model it is, it's in idaho currently) but it's been the best non-dslr camera i've ever used. the color is amazing, as well as the focus. it can take close up pictures- like pictures of your eyes, to the point that you can see the designs and colors in your eyes. jeff has a canon sd600 that is 2-3 years newer than mine, and it works fine, it's been great, but it just doesn't take the same pictures. it won't focus close at all. so, if i bought another digital i'd get a little nikon like mine, but as far as dslr, we're looking into the canon rebel series as well.
that's my two cents! good luck!
Yay! So we totally didn't know that you were pregnant! Congrats!! Having a baby in the house is so much fun!!! Our little guy is 3 months and the time gas flown by! Definitely take lots of pics!
