Today I went shopping with every intention of buying something for baby girl. Maybe a dress? A headband? After dropping my jaw at gymboree, childrens place, baby gap etc. I was somewhat panicked. Everything is so expensive. I just can't justify buying a 30$ outfit when 30$ could buy ME a new outfit. I feel like I should be getting triple the baby stuff for that amount. I called mother dear and asked her where to start. What should the first things I buy be? ( yes I am weird, I haven't actually bought ANYTHING for the baby) She said just to wait around for better deals. It just seems soo far away that she will be here and I hate just buying stuff to put away-- BORING! So I wandered... and I looked for the sale rack... and I compared... annnnd I came home with a new sweater and two shirts... for me. Does this make me a bad mom already? I just felt like I was ACTUALLY getting a deal unlike the baby clothes- I'm sorry but 2 for 20$ baby stretch pants- that is no bargain. Looks like our baby is going naked because I'm going to end up spending everything on myself.
Quite Tragic.

I loved shopping at the outlets in park city. All those same stores are super cheap up there plus they have carter's, which I love. AND old navy has supet cute stuff for a little more reasonable prices. No you are not a bad mom or selfish. Your kid will get plenty spoiled in the coming months/ years. Haha
I'm the same way. I waited forever to buy baby stuff. We literally put it room (including the crib) together a couple days before he was born. Old Navy has some pretty dang cute stuff and a lot of their stuff goes on clearance. Also, I know it may be trashy, but we got some pretty cute jeans at Value Village (2 for $20 is no deal in my mind either!). Also, I've found that garage sales is the way to go when buying baby stuff. I haven't had much luck with clothes at them, but toys and books for SURE! It's the way to go!
Also, no you're not a bad mom. It was WAY more fun to shop for things for Cade after he was born. It just wasn't real enough for me to get that excited before he was actually here.
Don't feel bad I totally agree that baby price should not be the same price as adults! Anyways Ross has really, really good deals for clothes!
Find the carters outlet! We love that store. And Fred Meyer gets some really good deals on their clearance racks. Just stay away from the mall, anything in there will cost a fortune. And they grow out of it all sooooo quickly! And don't forget, I'm sure your mom has a whole room full of stuff that she's beens stashing away for you. She's probably got the first year worth of clothes already bought and waiting!
target has the best girls clothes for around $10 an outfit...I spend way too much money there. But at least you get more stuff.
My sister gets most of her baby stuff from old navy online. we are talking a few dollers for some stuff. they are allways have good deals
Try the outlet malls in Park City. I found stuff there for a decent price. Also, wait to see what you get from showers. I didn't buy a ton, I mostly had everything given to me from showers. Congrats you two! you have to love little girls!
I have tons and tons of baby clothes stored away from Target. They always have clearance racks up to 75% off. In fact, I bought a shirt for 1.75 yesterday and a dress for 7.00 last week. If you haunt the baby clothes section for a while there you'll find some good deals.
It is possible to get baby clothes for VERY VERY cheap. Claire wears about 70% Gymboree and 30% Janie and Jack and I promise I don't spend a fortune! (okay, maybe at Janie and Jack-- it is a little harder to get a killer deal there.)
Gymboree runs sales and promotions ALL the time. I would never pay full price for anything there. The "baby sale" starts February 18th. Anything from 21-40 dollars will be 20 dollars and anything under 20 will be ten. This is what is usually is-- it may be different this year. If you use a coupon (they are usually in Parenting or Family Circle) it is 20 percent off that. Never buy without a coupon!
During certain times of the year (like now!) you earn Gymbucks. For every 50 dollars you spend, you earn 25 gymbucks. During gymbuck redemption, you pick out 50 dollars worth of clothes and pay 25!
All in all, I would say I probably buy most of my gymboree at 60-75 percent off the tagged price. If you buy ahead (like buying winter clothes in February for the next year) you can get clothes for next to nothing. I usually get Gymbo for less than I can get Carters or newer outfits at Target.
There is a Crazy 8 in Provo as well. They are owned by Gymbo and do a similar promotion to Gymbucks called CrazyCash. It is $20 off 40.There base prices are cheaper to begin with.
Janie and Jack is also a Gymbo company. They don't do any promotions, but I almost always wait for two markdowns before buying anything there. Imagine about half of the retail price. They will be doing a President's Day sale which is 20 percent off all sale items.
I hope that makes sense... probably not. And you probably don't care, but I get a little excited about this stuff!!
Have fun with your little girl!! She is precious! I can't wait to show Chris.
